Election Phone Scam             

Scammers are attempting to gather personal information via fake political lobbying.

Who Is It Targeting: Voters in Okaloosa, Florida

What Is It:  There are reports of scammers using the election season to convince consumers into giving them personal information.  The scammers are calling residents of Okaloosa, FL and using different scenarios to request personal information.  This may be to support a certain candidate or to register to vote.  The Okaloosa County Election Supervisor has stated that these calls are indeed scams and are unauthorized by his organization. 

What Are They After: Personal Information

How Can You Avoid It:  If you receive a call like this, simply hang up.  You should never give your personal information to someone who calls you and requests it out of the blue. If you have already received such a call and have supplied the callers with your personal information, please call the Identity Theft Resource Center at 888.400.5530 to learn how to protect yourself from identity theft.
