Individuals shopping for Halloween costumes online are being tricked into this scam.

Who Is It Targeting: Consumers

What Is It:  Individuals in need of last-minute costumes are falling for fake Halloween stores online that  promise overnight delivery. Individuals typically receive late and often, poor quality outfits or they don’t receive the costume at all. 

What Are They After: Money

How Can You Avoid It:

  • Make sure an online store is reputable by finding out the company's physical address and telephone number. You can then check their business review on the Better Business Bureau’s website: bbb.org.
  • Check the shopping policies for any refund guarantees.
  • Report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
