Office of Insurance Regulation Email Scam

The Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) are warning Floridians about an email scam.

Who Is It Targeting: Florida Insurance Holders

What Is It: Phishing emails are being sent to Florida residents notifying the recipient their insurance policies have been cancelled. This email includes a link for them to renew their insurance policy.

What Are They After: Account Information, payment

How Can You Avoid It:  The Office of Insurance Regulation does not send notices of cancellation. Do not click on suspicious links or give account information. Always contact the agency directly when you receive any kind of scrupulous email. Report the scam to the Department of Financial Services’ Insurance Consumer Helpline, by calling 1 (877) 693–5236.
