Throughout 2006, the ITRC participated in more than 50 presentations on identity theft, from state summits and national conferences to neighborhood community events.

1/12/2006 - Western Fairs - Annual Conference
Jay addressed the topic of Risk Management to nearly 250 attendees during this breakout session of the Western Fairs annual conference held in San Diego.

1/13/2006 - Compliance Summit - Presentation
“Privacy and Identity Theft Best Practices” was the topic of this presentation at the held in San Diego for some 130 attendees.

1/27/2006 - City of San Diego - Training
“Customer Service Training for the City of San Diego Water Department” conducted subsequent to a data breach within the department.

1/27/2006 - National Organization of Jewish Women - Presentation
Linda Foley presented on General Identity Theft Awareness to a community audience of approximately 50 people.

1/31/2006 - Hispanic Fraud Prevention - Community Event
An ITRC volunteer participated in this event to heighten awareness of identity theft within the Hispanic community.

2/4/2006 - Consumer Protection Day - Community Event
ITRC staff participated in this 2nd Annual Consumer Protection Day which drew more than 1,200 attendees.

2/14/2006 - El Cajon County Coalition for Meth Solutions - Presentation
Jay Foley addressed the relationship between methamphetamine and identity theft to a law enforcement audience of approximately 500.

2/23/2006 - Teaming Up Against Identity Theft - State Summit
Coordinated by the Office of Privacy Protection, this Summit in Los Angeles was attended by more than 900 people from business, government, and consumer agencies.

3/4/2006 - County Employees Retirement Event - Community Event
ITRC staff participated in this consumer awareness event, sponsored by the County of San Diego for nearly 400 employees.

3/21/2006 – VERID - National Webinar
“Instant Credit Challenge for Merchants” was the focus of this Webinar which reached approximately 600 participants.

4/5/2006 - Neighborhood Networks - Panel Presentation
ITRC speaker participated in this panel for “Uniting Neighbors. Strengthening Communities”, which drew approximately 40 attendees.

4/5/2006 - National Association of Professional Background Screeners - Annual Conference / Panel
“The Tradeoff Between a Right to Privacy and a Right To Know” was the topic of this annual conference held in Nashville. Jay served as an identity theft expert on this breakout session panel attended by some 300 professionals.

4/6/2006 - Scripps Ranch Welcome Club - Community Event
Homeowners Association event welcoming new homeowners into the community. Attended by approximately 60 residents.

4/8/2006 - San Diego City-County Reinvestment Task Force - Community Event
ITRC staff answered questions and provided handouts to the more than 300 community residents who attended this Smart Money Summit and Expo event sponsored by the County of San Diego.

4/22/2006 - Orange County's Credit Union - Presentation
“Identity Theft and the Banking Industry” was the focus of this presentation targeted to the senior executives and board of directors of this credit union.

4/24/2006 - Ohio Attorney General’s Office - Training
This “Passport to Identity Theft Solutions” Conference drew attendees from around the country. More than 100 participants attended this breakout session on “Reducing Your Risk of Identity Theft” – Corporate Presentations (part I & II)

5/2/2006 - Better Business Bureau - On-Air Presentation
A community radio talk show, this live “on air” presentation was aimed specifically at protecting yourself from identity theft fraud.

5/3/2006 - Association of Legal Administrators - Presentation
This 35th Annual Educational Conference and Exposition held in Montreal, Quebec drew a large international audience. “Preventing Identity Theft: How to Protect your Business, Clients and Employees” was the focus of this breakout session which was attended by more than 80 administrators.

5/3/2006 - Department of Defense - Presentation/Training
This presentation was geared toward Victim Advocates Training and was attended by more than 50 participants from different local commands.

5/6/2006 - National Association of Consumer Advocates - Presentation
This 2006 Fair Credit Reporting Act Conference drew advocates from around the country. Identity Theft and Available Remedies was the topic of a breakout session attended by Consumer Action Attorneys from across the country.

5/8/2006 - National Automated Clearing House Association - Presentation
“Protecting Customer Information – Are You Meeting your Obligations” was the topic of this session presented at the NACHA’s Payments 2006 held in San Diego. Some 60 financial industry executives from around the country attended.

5/10/2006 - US Navy Mail Services - Presentation
Nearly 50 military personnel attended this session consisting in the main personnel responsible for handling the mail of all of the local commands in the San Diego area.

5/13/2006 - San Diego Macintosh Users Group - Community Event
This community event drew nearly 100 people who were interested in Cyberspace security and identity theft.

5/18/2006 - Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association - Presentation
Nearly 100 owners, managers and industry members attended this presentation on general identity theft concerns and issues facing their business.

5/20/2006 - Paragon Federal Credit Union - Presentation
ITRC Mid Atlantic Coast Coordinator Nicole Robinson addressed members of this credit union (in New Jersey) in a seminar format on identity theft issues facing members, employees and the community.

5/24/2006 - La Jolla Villagers - Presentation
Linda Foley addressed this women’s organization during a monthly meeting which drew some 80-100 attendees.

5/25/2006 - Rotary Club 33 - Presentation
Jay & Linda Foley addressed more than 300 professionals at a presentation for San Diego’s oldest and most prestigious Rotary group.

6/7/2006 - Modesto School District - Presentation
Jay Foley addressed breach remediation issues for nearly 80 teachers from the Modesto School District, providing both guidance and support in the aftermath of a data breach by the school district.

6/29/2006 - Electrical Apparatus Service Association - Presentation
“Corporate Identity Theft: What You Must Know” was the topic for this presentation which drew an international audience of more than 100 professionals.

7/12/2006 - Green Valley Highlands Association - Presentation
More than 30 homeowners attended this quarterly meeting focusing on the growing threat of identity theft.

7/30/2006 - City of Chula Vista - Community Event
ITRC staffed an information booth at this family fun annual event which focused on Health and Safety. Taking place in a community park, the event drew more than 200 residents.

8/1/2006 - City of Escondido - Community Event
ITRC staffed an information booth at this annual event recognizing National Night Out. It was promoted community wide and had an attendance of some 300 residents.

8/2/2006 - Chartwell Inc. - Audio Conference
Chartwell’s Audio Conference on Securing Customer information was aimed at the Utility and energy industry and reached market of approximately 200 participants.

8/4/2006 - Employee Retirement Fair - Community Event
This widely attended outdoor event drew several hundred county employees interested in various financial issues.

8/30/2006 - Office of Congresswoman Susan Davis - Panel Workshop
This community event, sponsored by Congresswoman Susan A. Davis, drew more than 100 local residents interested in how to protect themselves from identity theft. It was an open question-and-answer forum.

9/12/2006 - International Association of Administrative Professionals - Presentation
ITRC Mid Atlantic Coast Coordinator Nicole Robinson addressed members of this organization (in the Washington, DC area) on general identity theft awareness.

9/13/2006 - Northern Virginia Business Travel Association - Presentation
ITRC Mid Atlantic Coast Coordinator Nicole Robinson addressed members of this organization with a specialized identity theft presentation focusing on issues facing travelers. Approximately 80 travel industry professionals attend this presentation.

9/13/2006 - Rancho Bernardo Kiwanis - Community Event
Jay Foley provided the ITRC General Identity Awareness presentation to more than 50 members of this organization.

9/25/2006 - American Banker - Presentation
This 3rd Annual Identity Theft & Fraud Symposium drew financial executives from around the country. Jay Foley’s presentation, “Efforts Against Identity Fraud: A Customer Perspective” drew nearly 200 attendees representing most of the major banks and financial institutions from across the country.

9/27/2006 - Criminal Justice Council - Presentation
ITRC Mid Atlantic Coast Coordinator participated in this 12th Crime Victim Services Conference held at the University of Delaware. Professionals representing criminal justice, counseling, community and other direct service agencies attended this event focusing on general identity theft issues.

9/28/2006 - Governor's Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board - Presentation
“Identity Theft and the Workplace” was the focus of this specialized presentation. Nearly 150 representatives from around the state attended this breakout session.

9/30/2006 - Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) - Community Event
ITRC staffed a booth at this annual event “2006 Strides for Change”, a Health and Safety Fair attended by more than 500 community residents.

10/5/2006 - Firefighters National Credit Union - Presentation
Jay Foley participated as an expert panelist at this Firefighters’ National Credit Union Summit. Actions to be taken and involvement of law enforcement were just a couple of the topics addressed during this panel discussion which drew more than 100 attendees.

10/14/2006 - Point Loma Nazarene University - Community Event
ITRC staffed an information
booth at this 3rd Annual Point Loma Nazarene University President’s Community Day Event which drew several hundred local residents onto the campus.

10/23/2006 - PEO - Presentation
More than 30 senior women attended this presentation which served to educate them on the general issues surrounding identity theft.

11/8/2006 - Worldwide Assistance - National Panel
This “Identity Theft Survival: Panel of Experts to Discuss ID Theft Prevention, Tips and Trends” was moderated by MSNBC’s Bob Sullivan. Jay Foley served as an identity theft expert at this event which was held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

11/8/2006 – PEO - Presentation
Nearly 40 senior women attended this presentation which served to educate them on the general issues surrounding identity theft.

11/15/2006 - American National Standards Institute / Better Business Bureau - Presentation
This Identity Theft Prevention and Identity Management Standards Panel was held in Arlington, VA. Jay and Linda participated as part of a main presentation panel as well as being named to several panel committees. The conference was the initial meeting of various groups to establish standard terms for dealing with identity theft.

11/21/2006 - California Financial Crimes Investigators Association - Presentation
Jay and Linda Foley presented an update of available services and capabilities to the CFCIA chapter of Southern California. This presentation was attended by members of law enforcement and the local financial business community

11/21/2006 - Louisiana State University - Presentation
ITRC volunteer presented the General Identity Theft Awareness presentation to a group of approximately 150 LSU students.

12/5/2006 - Office of Victims of Crime - Training
Jay and Linda co created a victim advisor training course with the Office of Victims of Crime. In December of 2006 they co-instructed the pilot class for that training in Austin Texas. The pilot class consisted of 18 trainees, 3 instructors and 3 evaluators.

12/13/2006 - Victim Assistance Coordinating Council - Community Event
Jay and Linda Foley presented an update of available services and capabilities to the VACC chapter of San Diego. This presentation was attended by members of law enforcement and the local financial business community.
