Throughout the year, the ITRC participates in numerous presentations on identity theft, from state and national conferences to neighborhood community events.

1/8/2008 - Women's Advisory Panel for the San Diego County District Attorney - Presentation
Nearly 40 participants attended this presentation regarding women's issues and crime.

1/9/2008 - County of San Diego Investment and Retirement Symposium - Community Event
ITRC staff participated in this event sponsored by the County of San Diego's Treasurer Dan McAllister.

1/10/08 - President's Identity Theft Task Force/Sub-Committee on Crime - Presentation
Strategic Points for Development was the topic of this presentation made before members of this task force and multiple U.S. Attorneys.

1/18/08 - Victims Initiative for Counseling, Advocacy, and Restoration of the Southwest (VICARS) - Presentation
Presentation and Strategic Planning meeting regarding collaborative efforts between VICARS and the ITRC.

2/6/08 - Maryland Crime Victims' Resource Center - Presentation

  The ITRC met with representatives from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Maryland Crime Victims’ Resource Center to discuss strategic planning for collaborative efforts between these organizations.   The primary goal of this meeting was to further the ability of these organizations to better serve victims of identity theft

Identity Theft: Stolen Futures was the topic of this presentation for parents and teens in La Jolla.

2/20/2008 - Enright Inn of Court - Presentation
Panel discussion on identity theft issues was provided for a large group of prominent lawyers and judges in the San Diego area.

2/20/2008 - Salesforce.com - Presentation
Identity Theft 101, on general identity theft and prevention measures, was presented to a group of more than 100 employees in San Francisco.

2/28/2008 - SECO International - Presentation
General identity theft awareness and best practices in the workplace were covered in this presentation provided by ITRC volunteer Branch Walton.  This annual conference was held in Atlanta for the Southern Council of Optometrists.

3/1/2008 - Women's Resouce Day - Community Event
ITRC staff participated in this 19th Annual all-day event held at the Community Concourse in San Diego.

3/7/2008 - Quality Service Contractors Power Meeting XXVIII - Presentation
Best practices in the workplace and protecting yourself from identity theft were just two of the topics covered in this presentation during the QSC Power Meeting held at the Doral Desert Princess Resort in Palm Springs.

3/14/2008 - Daughters of the American Revolution - Community Event
A general identity theft presentation was provided to this community group with an audience of approximately 50 attendees.

3/20/2008 - Biocom Purchasing Group - Community Event
General identity theft and best practices was covered during this employee "lunch and learn" presentation sponsored by Shred-It.

3/27/2008 - OASIS - Community Event
General identity theft and protection tips was addressed during this educational program for mature adults at the North County Fair in Escondido.

4/3/2008 - Office of Assemblymember Mary Salas - Community Event
This Privacy Town Hall Meeting was held at the Coronado Library and drew nearly 30 local residents.

4/8/2008 - Navajo Canyon Republican Women, Federated, San Diego - Community Event
Luncheon presentation on general identity theft awareness for nearly 50 members of  this local women's organization.

4/8/2008 - American Nurses Association - Presentation
ITRC volunteer Branch Walton provided two presentations - General identity theft awareness and best practices in the workplace - during this event held in Maryland. 

4/9/2008 - Volunteer Expo - Community Event
ITRC participated in this Expo offered to volunteers in both the police and sheriff's departments.  Two classes on General Identity Theft Awareness were provided to nearly 200 volunteers attending the expo.

4/10/2008 - San Diego Center for the Blind - Community Event
ITRC staff provided an afternoon presentation on General Identity Theft Awareness for this local organization.

4/16/08 - Association of Financial Crimes Investigators - Presentation
Jay Foley participated in this Fraud Seminar for a consortium of investigators from the fields of local, state and federal law enforcement, as well as representatives from retail and corporate America.  This event was held in Downers Grove, IL.

4/17/08 -  Office of Assembly Member Lori Saldana - Workshop
This identity theft workshop took place at the South Clairemont Recreation Center located at 3605 Clairemont Drive.

4/22/08 - National Exchange Club - Community Event
General identity theft was the topic for this local community event.

4/23/08 - Al Bahr Shrine - Community Event
Jay Foley presented on the topic of general identity theft.

4/28/08 - Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) - Panel
Jay Foley was a panel participant on this discussion of "Improving Cybersecurity: Recommendations from Experts".


5/2/08 - U.S. Federal Judges - Presentation
Jay Foley presented on the Impact of Identity Theft to an audience of approximately 70 judges and court personnel.

5/7/08 - Professional Risk Symposium - Panel
Jay Foley particupated as a panelist during this symposium in Atlanta, GA, hosted by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).

5/16/2008 - Living the QLife - Community Event
ITRC again participated in this annual event held for Qualcomm employees and their families.

5/31/08 - Women's Health Conference - Community Event
Jay Foley participated in this 1st Annual Speaking of Women's Health Conference held at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina.

5/31/08 - Pi Beta Phi - Community Event
Linda Foley presented on the topic of general identity theft for this alumnae meeting held in San Diego.

6/2/08 - Fellowes - Roundtable
Jay Foley participated in this roundtable discussion regarding the establishment of a consortium to review the issues facing samm and medium-sized businesses on data security and susceptibility to identity theft issues.  This event was held in Chicago.

6/5/08 - Beckman Coulter - Community Event
ITRC volunteer provided identity theft information for employees attending this Health and Safety Fair in Carlsbad.

6/10/08 - IBM Global Innovation Outlook - Symposium
Linda Foley participated in this symposium held in Chicago.  The topic for this particular series of GIO "deep dives" was Security and Society.

6/23/08 - Maryland Consumer Protection Advisory Board - Community Event
Nicole Robinson, ITRC Mid Atlantic Coast Coordinator, particpated in this evening forum on general identity theft held in Gaithersburg, MD

6/25/08 - SDG & E's Annual Safety Stand Down - Community Event
General identity theft issues were the topic of this presentation for SDG & E's Real Estate and Land Services' departments.

7/2/2008 - GOOGLE - Presentation
Identity Theft 101, on general identity theft and prevention measures, was presented to a group of more than 200 employees.

8/1/08 - San Diego County Treasurer's 3rd Annual Retirement Fair - Community Event
The ITRC again participated in this retirement fair for County employees.  This fair showcases local San Diego companies, groups and organizations.

8/1/08 - SDG & E - Presentation
General identity theft issues were the topic of this presentation for SDG & E's Street Lighting Services department.

8/5/08 - National Night Out in Poway - Community Event
The ITRC joined with the City of Poway in their National Night Out event held in Community Park.

8/19/2008 - Internal Revenue Service (Philadelphia) - Training
Identity theft from a victim's standpoint, victimization stages and resources available for Victim Witness Coordinators were the topics of this training for coordinators from around the country.

8/20/08 - Harvard Privacy Symposium 2008 - Presentation
Breach Remediation Pro-Active versus Reactive was the topic of this year's
presentation entitled Privacy: Pre- and Post-Breach, presented by Jay Foley.  The central theme of this year's symposium was "Privacy in Transition."

8/21/08 - Consumer Protection Luncheon for Clergy - Community Event
ITRC participated in this community event and round table discussion geared toward members of the local clergy.

9/10/2008 - Second Chance - Community Event
General identity theft prevention information was provided to this audience of individuals who find themselves re-entering society after some type of incarceration,

9/18/2008 - California Crime Prevention Officers' Annual Training - Training
Teen Identity Theft issues were the focus of this training, presented by Jay Foley, for law enforcement representatives from around California.
 

9/24/2008 - Internal Revenue Service (San Diego) - Training
Identity theft from a victim's standpoint, victimization stages and resources available for Victim Witness Coordinators were the topics of this training, presented by Jay Foley, for coordinators from around the country.

10/15/2008 - ONC Medical Identity Theft Town Hall Meeting - Panel
Linda Foley participated as a panelist on Understanding the Scope of the Problem (medical identity theft) at this Town Hall Meeting held in Washington, DC. 
 

10/23/08 - Identity Theft Awareness Day - Presentations
Identity Theft: Truth or Consequences was the focus of 36 presentations held at venues throughout San Diego.  These presentations were designed to educate consumers on the need to be diligent in protecting their personal information.

11/10/2008 - National Association of Purchasing Management -Presentation
Jay Foley presented Identity Theft: Best Practices to this local chapter of NAPM and its members.

11/15/2008 - Town Park / University City Village Tenants Association - Presentation
General identity theft issues were the topic of this presentation for this homeowner's association monthly meeting.

11/25/2008 - Lions Club (Hillcrest / Mission Valley)

General identity theft issues were the topic of this presentation for this local chapter of the Lions Club.

12/8/2008 - Orchard Apartments - Community Event
ITRC staff presented Identity Theft 101 at this seniors' event held in the Sports Arena area.

12/18/2008 - Cypress Court Senior Living - Community Event
