J. Branch Walton
Branch Walton, a former member of the U.S. Secret Service, has an extensive background in law enforcement, criminal justice and corporate security. He is currently the Manager of Safety and Security Compliance at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
He is the past President and COO of the National Association for Bank Security - Profit Protection LLD – in Ft Lauderdale, FL, a company specializing in security and compliance educational services for the financial industry. He has served as Chief of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center’s Management Institute and as a criminal justice instructor at Indiana University. A nationally-renowned speaker on the topic of workplace violence prevention, he continues to work as a security trainer and consultant. He has been a volunteer with the Identity Theft Resource Center since 2004.
Mr. Walton was an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after college. He went on to become a criminal investigator for the Office of Naval Intelligence (now Naval Criminal Investigative Service). Subsequently, he joined the U.S. Secret Service and retired after a 21-year career. His many assignments included Special Agent in Charge of Springfield, IL. Field office; Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Office of Training; Senior Instructor - Office of Training; Presidents Carter and Nixon and Candidate Reagan Details, and the Omaha and Kansas City field offices.
Mr. Walton was the Director of Corporate Security for Cummins Engine Co., Inc. in Columbus, IN where he was responsible for world wide security operations. His thirty-five years of practical experience in the areas of workplace violence prevention, executive protection, personal safety and general investigations and crime prevention have made him a popular speaker on these topics.
He has been an adjunct faculty member of the criminal justice departments at four universities and served as the National Director of Training for ASET Corporation and Lockmasters, Inc., security firms headquartered in Dayton, OH and Nicholasville, KY, respectively.
He has authored numerous magazine articles, book chapters and a textbook, and has consulted on several video training tapes. He has also served on curriculum advisory committees for the criminal justice departments of several universities, three security companies and on various funded committees studying criminal justice topics.
