Here at the Identity Theft Resource Center we are really excited about the launch of our first ever national fundraising campaign. We are calling the campaign Anyone3 because anyone can become a victim of identity theft, anyone can use the ITRC’s services and anyone can donate! The decision to launch our first fundraising campaign was  due to an increase in consumer demand of ITRC services in the wake of several highly publicized data breaches the ITRC has undertaking the first fundraising campaign by the organization. 

In fact, our call center volume increased by 83% in December of 2013 as compared to December of 2012. That’s a lot of phone calls! Of course, everyone here at the ITRC has risen to the challenge and put in the extra work to make sure our services are available to whoever needs them, whenever they need them.  In the end, we have once again proven just how valuable the services we offer are to the public. 

As you may know, the call center is not the only services we offer for free here at the ITRC.  We also provide education and outreach through online and offline methods and have strived to make sure that all of those people concerned about identity theft and related issues have somewhere to turn for help and guidance.  This is precisely the reason we are running this campaign. While there are many paid services available to consumers, the ITRC is the only organization which offers this type of services for free. The Anyone3  campaign is a chance for the public to be sure all of  these services do not disappear.

Perhaps it is best summed up by James Lee, the Chairmen of the ITRC Board of Directors, when he said, “In the beginning of 2014, we read about tens of millions of Americans whose identities and personal information had been put at risk because of the malicious actions of people who committed crimes against large retailers and the individuals who shopped there.  It is a story we’ve heard all too often. But, there is hope,” said Lee. He added, “The people who make up the Identity Theft Resource Center are passionate about helping individuals who find their trust has been violated by identity thieves.  Their confidence in commerce has been shaken and often their lives interrupted because their most precious possessions - their identity and reputation - have been damaged”.

The campaign was launched on April 3rd 2014 and run until June 13th, 2014.  As of April 8, 2014 the campaign has raised over $7,200.00. The overall goal of the campaign is to raise $100,000.00 for the organization to continue its services to the public.  The ITRC, a 501c-3 non-profit, has been providing victim assistance and consumer education all at no cost to the general public.  Identity theft, being the #1 consumer complaint reported to the Federal Trade Commission, it is obvious that the problem of identity theft is not going anywhere.  Therefore, we hope we around for a long time to help.  If you are interested in donating or sharing the campaign with others, you can visit the fundraising site at http://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise/get-involved?cid=12425.  We hope you will consider helping the ITRC help everyone out there who needs us!
