Netflix Email Scam

Date: 01/25/2017

Netflix customers, beware: a new email scam is targeting your information.

Who Is It Targeting: Netflix customers

What Is It: Phishing email scam

What Are They After: Recent reports have found that Netflix customers are being targeted with phishing emails that appear to come from the company. Instead, they are spoofed, meaning they look like the real deal but are not from Netflix.

The email states that customers must update their billing information, and the link only requests the security code from the back of your credit card. That’s because the scammers already have your username and password, and your credit card is stored in your Netflix account. With that three-digit code, they’re able to use your credit card number.

How Can You Avoid It:

  • Never click a link in an email that you were not expecting.
  • Never submit or click through to enter sensitive personal information; instead, exit out of the email and go directly to your account to make any changes.
