Watch the 2025 Consumer Impact Report webinar by the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) below. Highlights from the report include:
- Approximately 25 percent of the general consumer respondents answered “Yes” when asked if they had “seriously considered self-harm as a way of dealing with your identity theft, fraud or scam.” Of those who self-identified as a victim, 67.8 percent responded “Yes.” Only 14.4 percent of the ITRC victim group answered “Yes” to the same question, a more than two percentage point increase from 2024.
- In 2025, 83.3 percent of ITRC victims surveyed reported feeling worried or anxious, 78.6 percent felt violated, 75.4 percent felt vulnerable and 73 percent felt angry. In 2024, 82 percent reported feeling worried or anxious, and 76.4 percent violated.
- More than 20 percent of ITRC victims surveyed reported losses exceeding $100,000, and over ten percent lost at least $1 million. Over 34 percent reported losses exceeding $10,000.
