Piggybacking off of the recent WhatsApp fee hoax, Facebook isn’t going to start charging you, either.

Who Is It Targeting:  Social media users

What Is It:  A scam or hoax that claims Facebook will no longer be free

What Are They After: Facebook hoaxes and scams have been around probably as long as the platform itself. In the case of hoaxes, the idea seems to be nothing more than a weird joke. But scams are a whole different problem, and they target users’ information, account access, contacts list, and even money.

How Can You Avoid It:

  • Facebook is free for individuals to use, and its Support Page says that it always will be.
  • Yes, there are paid options like advertisements, but even businesses can have a free page.
  • Anyone who tells you to pay money, share the post, or send them information is not to be trusted.
