What Is It: There are a variety of ways PayPal has been used fraudulently by scammers to steal personal information. In this particular scam, scammers are sending an email from  PayPal that looks legitimate and is asking individuals to update their bank routing number. The click here link within the email routes you to an external site that is not associated with PayPal.

How Can You Avoid It:

  • Although these emails might look real, one thing you can do is review the sender’s email to see if it is legitimate.
  • Always hover over the click here link before clicking to see where it plans to send you.
  • Forward suspicious emails to PayPal:
